Engineering heritage meets environmental stewardship

Aurion+ leverages decades of heavy offshore EPCIC, subsea engineering and marine operations experience to tackle one of the offshore energy and maritime sectors' most urgent challenges: extending asset integrity while driving down industrial pollution.

Rather than deploying capital-intensive, carbon-heavy new fabrication, today's operational landscape demands intelligent asset life-extension.

By applying precision engineering, advanced non-destructive inspection and targeted intervention to operational platforms, subsea pipelines, floating storage units and marine spreads, Aurion+ directly mitigates fugitive emissions, eliminates hydrocarbon leaks and curtails embodied carbon across marine energy infrastructure.

Proven engineering foundation

Our operational methodologies are grounded in the successful delivery of complex offshore EPCIC developments, deepwater marine operations and critical asset interventions across demanding offshore environments.

  • Subsea Infrastructure & Pipeline Integration

Turnkey delivery of complex infield pipelines, flexible riser replacements, deepwater umbilical installations, and high-voltage submarine power transmission lines (up to 230 kV) connecting offshore systems to shore grids.

  • Topside & Platform EPCIC

Engineering, procurement, fabrication and commissioning of wellhead platforms, living quarter topsides, complex bridge networks and gas utility modules.

  • Offshore Terminals & Large-Scale Storage

Turnkey installation, mooring hookup, commissioning and operations management for major Floating Storage Units (up to 2.2 million barrels capacity) and Single Point Mooring (SPM) terminal systems.

  • Marine Vessel & Barge Conversions

Reconstruction, dry-dock overhauls, structural steel renewal, and dynamic positioning upgrades (DP I to DP II) on heavy crane barges, jack-up rigs and specialised cable-laying vessels.

  • Decommissioning & Environmental Hazard Remediation

High-risk marine salvage, topside and jacket removal, and hazardous fluid recovery, including complete diesel and lube oil extraction from sunken vessels prior to disposal.

  • Aerial view of an offshore oil and gas field at dusk: a jack up drilling rig with a lit flare, supply and construction vessels alongside, and a floating production vessel moored beyond

Sustainable asset management: repair, maintain, decarbonise

1.8 to 2.2 tonnes of CO₂
Embodied per tonne of new platform steel
Every tonne of newly fabricated platform steel carries an embodied footprint of approximately 1.8 to 2.2 tonnes of CO₂.

Replacing ageing offshore assets outright is often neither economically rational nor environmentally defensible.

Aurion+ prioritises targeted repair, maintenance and modernisation (IRM) to preserve operational continuity while eliminating primary sources of marine and atmospheric pollution.

Four interventions

  1. 01

Subsea Mechanical Repair (SMR) & Leak Prevention

Corrosion, fatigue and subsea connection failures present severe contamination risks to marine ecosystems.

Aurion+ deploys advanced 3D dimension site surveys, precision underwater machining, diver-assisted clamp installations and structural jacket reinforcement to isolate defects before failure occurs.

Replacing degraded flexible risers, subsea valves and infield pipelines prevents hydrocarbon release at the source without requiring full infrastructure decommissioning.

  2. 02

    Topside Revamping & Emissions Mitigation

Ageing process topsides frequently suffer from venting inefficiencies, flaring excesses and equipment degradation.

Comprehensive revamping programmes overhaul gas processing systems, replace deteriorated valves and piping, and re-engineer metering skids, restoring containment integrity.

Upgrading compression systems and gas utility facilities eliminates routine venting and captures valuable process gases, driving significant reductions in Scope 1 emissions.

  3. 03

    Surface Protection & Corrosion Containment

Topside and splash-zone degradation accelerates structural fatigue and causes micro-particulate contamination in marine waters.

Aurion+ executes specialised abrasive sandblasting, advanced splash-zone composite coatings and high-specification insulation programmes across jacket legs, bridges and production decks.

These systems seal existing structures against harsh marine exposure, arresting chemical leaching and extending structural service life by decades.

  4. 04

Marine Environmental Salvage & Pollution Abatement

When assets reach terminal life or suffer catastrophic marine incidents, unmanaged deterioration threatens sensitive waterways.

Aurion+ executes controlled hazard abatement: performing thorough pre-underwater surveys, offloading trapped hydrocarbons and chemical residues, and safely recovering heavy wrecks or obsolete jackets for controlled onshore recycling.

Closing

Delivering the industrial transition

Decarbonisation does not require abandoning established industrial capital; it requires operating it with elevated standards of efficiency, precision and environmental care.

By applying tier-one offshore engineering discipline to asset preservation, Aurion+ bridges the gap between incumbent marine infrastructure and modern environmental performance.

Featured case study

Rapid Deployment Oil Recovery System

Contract

Client · Oceanus Co. Ltd (South Korea)

Oceanus Co. Ltd awarded Aurion+ a contract to design, procure and supply a highly transportable, high-pressure flexible oil recovery system.

The core requirement was a multi-use system that could be easily mobilised by air to any global location.

Solution

Following a feasibility study, Aurion+ selected a 4-pipe bundle system using 9" fully composite pipe from Deepflex.

Deepflex was chosen for:

  • Innovative, lightweight and strong composite design
  • Dedicated professional engineering support
  • Fast six-month manufacture-to-delivery timeframe
  • Adaptable management suited to changing project needs

Global engineering collaboration

The success of the system relied on specialised components from a network of global partners.

Aurion+ acted as the Main Contractor managing the project.

  • Deepflex

Supplied the flexible pipe, manufactured at their Manitowoc plant starting in late 2011.

  • Deep-down Incorporated

Supplied transportation carousels specifically designed to fit inside an Antonov 124 cargo plane.

  • Cuming Flotec

Manufactured 14 buoyancy modules in Boston that provided buoyancy and clamped the quad pipe bundle together.

  • KPC

This Oceanus sister company in Ulsan, South Korea, produced the 3-tonne flange connections, which were flown to Chicago and trucked to Manitowoc for final assembly.

The heavy-lift operation

  1. 01

    Logistics

After final Factory Acceptance Testing was complete, a 10-day window remained to spool and transport the equipment to Michigan's Sawyer International Airport. Four 23.5-tonne carousels were barged downriver from the Deepflex quayside, then trucked to the 3000m runway of the former US Air Force base.

  2. 02

    Loading

On July 13th, a Polet Airways Antonov 124, one of the world's largest cargo planes with a 120-tonne capacity, “kneeled” to receive the 94-tonne combined cargo.

  3. 03

    Precision

Because the 13" outer diameter pipe left only centimetres of clearance inside the hold, engineers used 3D modelling to ensure a perfect fit.

  4. 04

    Winching

A specialised rail system and 30-metre ramp were assembled, allowing the carousels to be smoothly winched into the cavernous hold.
